The Kraken Project
by Douglas Preston
She didn’t want to puke herself like the last time, when Mars Curiosity had landed. The fried eggs had ended up all over the front of her white lab coat, and she had become the star of a viral YouTube video that showed everyone cheering when Curiosity touched down–and there she was, with breakfast all over her.
This is the fourth book in Preston’s Wyman Ford series and I still don’t have a sense of the character. I enjoy the books, but I only realized that Wyman is a recurring character. With Preston and Child’s Pendergast series, the characters stand out and are memorable. Is it me or is Wyman too plain vanilla?

What are you reading now? Do you have a TT to share with us?

I never read anything by this author, but it sounds like the series has possibilities.

If you’ve never read this author, a better bet would be to try one of his collaborations with Lincoln Child. They wrote some killer books! Relic is the first of a series and there are several stand alones too. When I read Relic back in the 90s, it was my favorite book of the year.

Mine this week is from a romantic suspense:

Yes, I like Melissa and wouldn’t mind her showing up again – instead of the so far forgettable Wyman Ford. Thanks for coming by to comment and leave your link.

Oh no, if being physically sick wasn’t humiliating enough, the video went on youtube? That’s harsh!
Here’s a link to my TT, I’ve just started reading it so it’s the first couple of sentences…

I know! It’s early in the book too and I really like that character.

Ugh, I hate being sick.
Maybe the author is going for an Everyman character and just carried it too far?

That’s a thought, Selah. Good for being undercover, lol.

A couple of them I really liked, but would recommend Preston and Child’s Pendergast series instead. Thanks for coming by.

Thanks for dropping by to comment and leave your link, Cleo.
I enjoy the books by Preston and his cohort Lincoln Child generally more than this series by Preston only.

I’m almost finished now and finding it a very uneven book. Some parts are great and some . . . well, boring.

You’re right it doesn’t sound quite as good as the Pendergast books. Thanks for coming by my teaser.

Yours this week sounds intriguing with the two types of mysteries.

I love Preston and Child but haven’t started this series by Preston. I think I’ll check it out now. Poor thing. Once it goes on the internet, there’s no going back. LOL

My husband likes the Pendergast series and has gotten me to read a couple in the set too. As for what I’m reading, lots of biographies. 🙂

I have a few biographies on hand, mostly older ones. Somehow, when it’s time to start a new book, I always seem to grab a fiction – usually a mystery, lol.
