I can’t tell you the number of readers that have posted how much they love The Night Circus. So far, I am in total agreement with them.
The Night Circus
by Erin Morgenstern
There is silence when he finishes. Only the crackle of the fire fills the room for several moments as the guests look from one to the other, each waiting for someone to respond.
Have you read The Night Circus? What are you reading now?
I love your teaser! I have been wanting to read The Night Circus for ages and I will definitely try to pick up my copy soon.
Here is my teaser. 🙂

I’ve been trying to get to it since last November or so, but other books, group reads and such, kept getting in the way. It is going fast, quite an easy read and fun.

Good to know! I can’t wait to start reading it.

I listened to the audio version of this one and loved it. I want to read the print version now.

I can imagine that this is one of the easier ones to keep up with on audio. There’s only been once so far where I wanted to look back and check something – although the dates might have made it a little tricky. You’ll probably fly through the print version.

Great teaser! I’m definitely one of the people in the “I’ve been meaning to read The Night Circus forever” club! I hear so much good about it I’m almost afraid to pick it up for fear of it not living up to the expectation. Can’t wait to see what you think when you finish it.

I know what you mean about expectations. This is such an easy read though that I don’t think it will disappoint. Not like struggling through a difficult read and afterwards wondering why.

Ah, the awkward silence. I remember this scene. Such a great book.

I am, Amy. It would really have to go downhill in a hurry for it not to be one of my favorites for #20BooksOfSummer and maybe all of 2015.

Dagny,
Yes, I have read it. It was a selection for an SF F-T-F discussion group I belong to. It generally got high marks, with some unhappiness with the way the children were treated.
I just finished _A Stranger in Olondria_ by Sofia Samatar, also a selection by the same group. We will discuss it Tuesday, July 14. It’s a very well written fantasy, a remarkable effort for a first novel. I will keep an eye on her to see what her next book is like.

I did notice in The Night Circus that the girl especially was treated so coldly by her father.
I haven’t heard of A Stranger in Olondria. I’ll have to look it up.

Nice teaser. I’m unfamiliar with the title, but I like how your teaser, could seem at least, to tie back to the intriguing title.

Thanks, Joseph. It’s an intriguing read. I was surprised to discover that it is mostly set in the late 19th Century. Somehow I was expecting it to be set in present day.

I haven’t read this, but my husband loved it and I bought it for my best friend a few years back. At the moment, I’m reading the first volume of Tony Benn’s memoirs/letters/diary and the second in Robertson Davies’ Salterton trilogy – both humane and decent men, so they make a good pair.

I haven’t heard of them. I confess that I rarely read non-fiction.

Robertson Davies’ books are wonderful novels – full of detail and community and humour and understanding of people – really worth a look. I do read more non-fiction than almost anyone I know, and I do love a political memoir, but it’s good to have this balance of the two books on the go.

Ooooh, the night circus! I quite liked it, although it was as life-impacting as the raves had me believe.

Ha, ha. No matter how much I love it, somehow I don’t see it impacting my life.

This is a really great teaser from this book. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did, but I loved the idea behind it.

So I just ordered it … because, you know, I’m running out of things to read … or something. Good grief. They’re going to have to bury me in a library just so I can haunt it to give me a chance to catch up in the afterlife!

I like your idea of haunting a library! What fun to wander through the stacks.
