I don’t consider myself an angel, avenging or otherwise, but I can’t always accept fate as the answer. Timing makes all the difference.

There exists a rather charming school of thought that the motorist who looms out of the fog at precisely the right moment or the fatherly old man who takes a lost child’s hand and leads her to safety are heaven-sent messengers.

Unknown to themselves, of course.

The young woman he recalled was almost lost in the mists of memory, and those partaicular memories I had no intention of resurrecting. The reckless young reporter whom Chase had known so well was now a woman who had spent five decades covering fires, disasters, wars, revolutions, murders, and public scandals.

I read a number of Carolyn Hart’s Death on Demand series years ago, but have only discovered the delightful Henrie O. It looks like there are seven in the series. Have you read any of Hart’s books?

  1. I have a Henrie O mystery right here. It was the next cozy I was going to read! 🙂 It’s called, Death In Lover’s Lane. Carolyn Hart is new to me and I am looking forward to reading her book. 🙂

Cool! Looks like that’s the third one. I plan on reading more. My local library has the third and fourth books, but not the second, so I’ll be a while rounding that one up.

  2. Another mystery that sounds so tempting! Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “A MAN CALLED OVE”

I’ve read LOTS of the Death on Demand series until they all started to blur together because nothing seems to ever change … and I enjoyed the first few books in her ghost series … but I haven’t read Henrie O yet.

I’m not sure how many of the Death on Demand ones I read. Somewhere around six or ten. Looks like I know exactly what you mean about them all blurring together. I wasn’t aware of her ghost series – have to check into that one. I didn’t even know about Henrie O until recently when I spotted it mentioned on someone’s blog or in the Cozy group.

You’re welcome. Hart’s two series characters that I’ve read, Henrie O in this one and Annie of the Death on Demand series are quite different.

Huh, I have never read any of Hart’s books. I’ll have to look into them.

I’ve only read one of the Henrie O books, but the Death on Demand series, at least the early ones I read are much lighter and quick reads. I like the Henrie O better though, with a little bit of bite to it.

I think I tried this author years ago and can’t recall whether they are series reads or not. Hope you enjoy this one (I’d probably pass)

It was back in the 1990s that I read some of the Death on Demand series. There were several Henrie O books back then too, so you could have read them. Annie of Death on Demand runs a book shop as I recall. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

This really sounds like a great book. The characters and the philosophical introspection. I haven’t read anything by this author before but I’ve added this book to my list.

I haven’t read any of Hart’s books so far, but I really like the sound of both the first paragraph and the teaser.
