The Assassin in the Marais
(Victor Legris #4)
by Claude Izner
Victor could never resist the lure of a mystery. It was not enough just to live, although life itself could be full of enigma; it was better to dare to venture down shadowy paths, feeling his way along a tunnel, with only the hint of a feeble light at its end, gradually growing brighter until the darkness was no more than a memory, mingled with regret.

I like mysteries set in Paris and would read this one.

“Claude Izner” is the pen name of two sisters. The two main characters own a book store in Paris. I got hooked on the first book in the series, Murder on the Eiffel Tower. It takes place during the World Exposition when the Eiffel Tower was new. Several of us commented on the fact that Paris was like a character in the third book, The Montmartre Investigation.

Interesting teaser. I’m teasing Ever After by Jude Deveraux on my adult blog this week. It’s a romance with ghosts. Happy reading!

This does sound good! I do agree that the lure of a mystery is hard to resist–I just choose to take mine in book form. This is definitely a series I need to check out.

It certainly hooked me, Sandra. Thanks so much for leaving your link to the Bill Bryson book. I knew about the book, but not about the upcoming movie with Redford and Nolte!

Thanks, Cleo. It’s not my favorite series, but it gives a wonderful feeling for Paris around 1900.
