I just finished the first of three books I checked out last week, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J K Rowling. Next up are Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse #10) by Charlaine Harris.

Books you would like to suggest to your library
Most of the books I would suggest that my library purchase are non-fiction. There are several wonderful books by archaeologist and Egyptologist Zahi Hawass. I was first aware of Dr. Hawass from a television special over a decade ago and over the years have seen him several times on The Discovery Channel. I have two of his books, but they are expensive and not always readily available used.

Non-Fiction is such a tough section to buy for in libraries. Often is the least checked out section we buy for. That is why suggestions for non-fiction are so great! Libraries want to carry books that you want to read. That sounds like quite the interesting topic and I will definitely be looking into it for my library. Great post!

I can definitely believe that non-fiction isn’t checked out much at my local library. It is in a back room, a large room, but unheated and usually the lights aren’t even on. I’ve even been there when the door was locked and had to get the librarian to unlock the door for me. At least I know where the light switch is now.
The great thing about seeing Dr. Hawass on tv is his exuberant enthusiasm. Some of it comes through in his books and of course the photos are a rare treat.

Thanks for the tip. The public library here has four of Hawass’ books and a fifth in which he has an article. I’ll add his name to my TBR list.

Ancient Egypt has interested me for a long time, so I’m looking forward to these.
By the way, I found a two DVD set of Ancient Egypt Unearthed, a documentary with Hawass on Netflix. That should be interesting also.

How’ve you been… it’s been quite long since I visited you and your blog and I really missed both of you ❤
As usual, I have no idea about the author you mentioned (you know what, I've known you long enough to get used to realising again and again that I don't know 99% of the famous authors…lol)
And I doubt that my library will have titles by him as they don't even have all the HP books or 2 of Vampire Academy ones… so this will definitely be missing there. But I'll put Zahi Hawass's name in the suggestion box… I hope that they'll get atleast some of his works so that I can read them 🙂

Hello, Heena! Not surprised you haven’t heard of Dr Hawass. I wouldn’t have either if I hadn’t seen him in a couple of tv specials on Egypt antiquities. He’s not really an author per se – he’s totally about the ancient artifacts, discovering and preserving them. He was Minister of Antiquities before the recent troubles in Egypt. His books are non-fiction about various sites, projects, etc.

Aww, thanks, Heena. That’s sweet of you to say. It mainly comes from being old, lol, and having had time to read a lot of various stuff. Scholar – ah – I’m going for Professor in the RMFAO Classics Challenge.
