Teaser Tuesdays – October 14, 2014

ClockTT

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can participate.

If you’re new to Teaser Tuesdays, the details are at MizB’s Should Be Reading or on my Teaser Tuesdays Page.

Thank you to Emma at Book Around the Corner for bringing this book to my attention in July. I rushed to purchase it immediately, but it has only now made its way to the top of the pile. So far it sounds as promised, a hilarious over-the-top fun read.

The Midnight Examiner
by William Kotzwinkle

MidnightExaminerYellow

He sat before his computer, hammering out the last stories of the week for the Midnight Examiner. A medicine bottle filled with gin was close at hand.

Blurb from Goodreads:

Fantasist William Kotzwinkle takes readers on a wild ride in this thriller set in the sleazy world of the tabloids. Howard Halliday, the editor of the Midnight Examiner and the unlikely protagonist in William Kotzwinkle’s latest novel, becomes embroiled with several shady characters, including a bloodthirsty crime lord and a porn queen in danger, who lead him into a bizarre escapade that rivals only the freakish headlines in the Midnight Examiner.

What are you reading now? Do you have a TT to share with us?

Please leave a comment with your link on MizB’s Teaser Tuesdays post or below. If you don’t have a blog, you can share your Teaser here in the comment section instead.

    • You’re welcome, Emma. Thanks to you for bringing this one to my attention. I’m not too far in it yet, but really enjoying these crazy characters (and thanking my lucky stars that I never had any co-workers like them, lol).

I LOVED the headline titles. It was SO funny. I imagined them printed in big letters on the front page of the magazines. And all the different kind of magazines with their crazy editors.
I wonder how it is among the staff of this kind of press in the real world.

      • LOL, surely . . . . If it’s even half like this, oh to be a fly on the wall.

I laughed about the beauty editor who wouldn’t go to lunch with the guy and told him he always did something to embarrass her. You think?

Eww, Gin! I’ve never been able to drink it. I’m a vodka or whiskey on the rocks girl:) This does sound fun and I bet it doesn’t have any dull moments:)

  10. Hmm, is he avoiding the temptation? Never place gin and medicine together; never a good combo! Crime mystery novels are so fun; hope you’re enjoying this one 🙂
