I was in Graduate School at Washington University in St. Louis. My wife was somewhere in the midwest at a school for her job at Litton and a college friend was staying at our apartment, having just moved to town (and she maddeningly traipsed around the apartment in her underwear). Remember the other amazing thing that happened in 1969 … the Mets won the World Series!
I had just finished my first year in grad school at the University of Arizona in Tucson and several grad students gathered at my place for an impromptu Moon Landing party.
We were all ardent SF readers, so you can imagine the mood that night.

LOL, Mike. The Mets winning then was almost as amazing as putting a man on the moon. Speaking of the Mets, I was a big fan of Gary Carter.

Dagny,
It’s so sad what has happened to space exploration. I now find myself hoping other countries will come forward now that we’ve lost the will to go on.
